September 13 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Hosting.com (hosting.com) announced on Monday it has supported and participated in the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts, providing support for the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center Web site following the disaster.
"In today's online world, we know how essential it is for informational websites to stay up and running, particularly during a crisis situation," says Darren King, president and CEO of Hosting.com. "We have been fortunate to play our small, but vital part in the disaster relief effort by offering additional online resources to critical organizations in the Gulf Coast region."
Hosting.com has been providing free additional bandwidth to the Community Data Center's Web site, which experienced an immediate spike in Web site traffic on Wednesday, August 31 after it was mentioned on several national television networks.
The hosting provider has also provided the back-end support and infrastructure needed to set-up several new Web sites working to help residents of the affected areas find new housing. These sites are expected to be fully operational in coming weeks.
