Host Department Moves to FreeBSD
Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.
April 25, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Server provider Offmyserver (offmyserver.com) said on Monday it had recently completed a migration of 50 servers to the FreeBSD operating system for reseller hosting firm Host Department (hostdepartment.com). The servers were previously running Red Hat Linux 9 and Red Hat Linux Advanced Server.
"FreeBSD is in use at some of the highest traffic sites on the Internet and our customer needed the best throughput available," says Matt Olander, Offmyserver engineer. "The FreeBSD operating system delivered on all of Host Department's requirements including ease of administration, reliability, and security."
The first migration of the 20 systems happened one year ago, says Offmyserver production manager Austin Stewart, noting that the systems have been stable since.
Offmyserver?s migration was largely powered by dual Xeon mirrored SCSI systems. The backup server was one of the first systems larger than 4TB using the 3ware 9500 series card in production.

resellers ? I have read in hostdepartment reviews in many places - story about a guy who invested in hostdepartment resellers package and lost all the best clients he had and now is running a website which earns from adsense.
hostdepartment is the first best worst hosting provider in the entire world
