Leading Hibernia's European sales efforts, Fergus Innes had previously worked for eight years at COLT Telecom, where he directed sales in its Irish major enterprise division.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Trans-Atlantic submarine cable provider Hibernia Atlantic (www.hiberniaatlantic.com) has appointed industry veteran Fergus Innes as European vice president of sales, and increased its sales force with new team members throughout Amsterdam, London and Paris as the company further increases its network footprint in Europe.
According to Hibernia’s Wednesday announcement, Innes will be leading a team focused on driving Hibernia Atlantic’s cable transport services across Europe’s business, government and wholesale sectors. This expanded sales force is in response to Hibernia Atlantic’s continued growth in the European marketplace, having recently added both trans-Atlantic capacity and terrestrial network infrastructure.
“With the recent landing of our trans-Atlantic fiber-optic cable on the shores of Northern Ireland, we have new physical infrastructure and available capacity to penetrate European and global commerce,” Hibernia sales and marketing executive vice president Eric Gutshall said in a statement. “Additionally, Fergus and other talented team members collectively bring extensive regional telecommunications experience as Hibernia Atlantic continues to grow throughout Europe.”
Innes said Hibernia’s fast and resilient 24,000 km fiber-optic cable system helps it deliver exactly what customers want. “We are continually increasing our global footprint, adding new points of presence to fulfill the demand of our enterprise and carrier clients,” Innes said in a statement. “Our Global Financial Network division alone has implemented more than 31 PoPs within the last few months, as we deliver new, low latency routes to major exchanges and Multi-lateral Trading Facilities.”
Prior to joining Hibernia Atlantic, Fergus spent eight years at fiber-optic network provider COLT Telecom (www.colt.net), where he was most recently sales director in its Irish major enterprise division. Fergus has also held senior executive positions in the UK at Cable & Wireless, Telia and Thus.
