April 8, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center developer and operator 365 Main (365main.com) announced on Tuesday that social network hi5 (hi5.com) has expanded its data center footprint to include 365 Main’s newest facility in Oakland, California.
The San Francisco, California-based social networking community has more than 80 million registered users around the world. It has been a tenant at 365 Main’s flagship San Francisco data center since 2004.
Founded in 2003, hi5 is now the eight most-trafficked website in the world and the top social network in over 20 countries. The company’s expansion with 365 Main totals more than 2,500 square feet at the Oakland facility.
“Social networking sites like hi5 promise a reliable, 24X7 experience to their users, and to deliver on that promise requires modern data center infrastructure,” says Chris Dolan, CEO of 365 Main. “Our Oakland facility was designed for exactly this type of requirement, and we’re proud to be adding this world-class organization to our existing Oakland tenant roster.”
365 Main purchasing the Oakland facility in January 2007, opened it in September 2007 and was fully commissioned by December 2007. The company says that leasing activity in the facility has been greatly active since its opening.
The Oakland data center recently participated in the “Savings by Design” program to reduce energy consumption, sponsored in part by Pacific Gas & Electric.
365 Main says its data center facilities are developed and certified to the highest industry standards and compliance requirements, including SAS70. It features round the clock power, cooling, connectivity and security capabilities to ensure mission-critical operations and business continuity for tenants.
