April 22, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — HelmTastic (helmtastic.com), an online portal offering the Helm (helm.webhostautomation.com) control panel and related hosting software, has entered into a partnership with IT Web Solutions (it-web-solutions.com) to jointly market URL Protector, a software product developed by IT Web Solutions that protects directories on Microsoft IIS.
URL Protector, designed for Windows hosting operations, uses htaccess files to provide a recognizable way of protecting Windows directories.
According to the company, URL Protector gives IIS users advanced folder protection options. Users requiring simple password protection can do so through the use of text fileswithin the directory. These can be managed via FTP, scripts and integration with Helm, a Windows hosting automation solution developed by UK-based WebHost Automation (webhostautomation.com).
For more advanced users, URL Protector can also provide authentication against databases such as MSSQL, Access, LDAR or ADSI.
