December 5, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Open network storage solution developer Network Appliance Inc. (NetApp.com) announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS.com) for the marketing and sale of enterprise network attached storage (NAS) systems.
According to the terms of the agreement, HDS will offer NetApp enterprise NAS gateway solutions for Hitachi Freedom Storage environments managed by HiCommand Management Framework tools. Network Appliance says the companies are focused on making it easier for enterprise customers to deploy and share a storage pool across SAN and NAS applications.
The agreement, says Network Appliance, is the result of both companies? commitment to an open and collaborative business model. The enterprise NAS gateway is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2003.
