January 18, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Sun Microsystems (sun.com) announced on Tuesday that it had added department store Harrods as a new customer.
Harrods chose the Sun Java Integration Suite to supports its growing retail operations. The suite will provide the service-oriented architecture-based foundation to create a “single view” of customer, product and promotional data. Sun says this will enhance the customer’s online experience and help Harrods preserve its existing IT investments.
Harrods chose Sun because of its rich integration and composite application development capabilities and footprint in the marketplace.
“Harrods’ selection of Sun’s Java Integration Suite is a testament to the depth and breadth of its capabilities and its broad adoption in a number of markets, including retail,” says Larry Singer, senior vice president and strategic insight officer, Sun Microsystems. “We look forward to helping Harrods establish a common view of data across the organization to more effectively serve its customer base and reach the next level of integrated multi-channel retail operations.”
