Global Switch's data center in Singapore, occupied by Harbour MSP.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Australian data center provider Harbour MSP (www.harbourmsp.com.au), a subsidiary of Frontline Systems (www.frontline.com.au), announced on Friday it has opened data center space at Global Switch’s facility in Singapore, according to a report on ComputerWorld.
This latest data center is designed to meet the increased demands from Australian customers and direct requirements from Singapore, says the company.
The 237,272-square-foot Global Switch facility is located in the city’s main technology districts, close to Changi International Airport.
Harbour MSP will provide a range of services from the facility, including colocation, network, storage and backup, and infrastructure monitoring and management. The company owns and operates data centers in Sydney and Melbourne.
“Singapore is the major hub in Asia for many multi-nationals and mid-tier enterprises,” says John Howl, the CEO of Harbour MSP. “We’ve had significant demand from a number of our major Australia customers to provide services in Singapore and we very pleased to be able to make this happen.”
The past year has seen a handful of data centers sprout up in Singapore, from companies such as SalesForce.com, Equinix, KDDI and AT&T.
Harbour MSP says the new data center will provide an on-site operations center, which will support the company’s portfolio.
The operations center will also enhance its IT infrastructure library management to improve communication between the company and its customers.
The company was recently appointed to the Federal Government’s interim data center panel.
