(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider GreenSoft Solutions Inc. (www.gsihosting.com) announces its new Matrix virtualization platform, an enterprise-class infrastructure designed to capture the full benefits of virtualization technologies.
According to the company’s Monday announcement, the GSI Matrix combines best-of-breed technologies, its “ServerHeroes” support, and a performance guarantee into an enterprise-ready, hosted virtualization platform targeted at corporate IT buyers. GSI’s hardware-independent platform is built on technologies from VMware, Cisco, Dell, Network Appliance and Force 10 Networks, creating a highly available environment with minimal downtime.
“Unlike other cloud computing solutions, the GSI Matrix is based upon enterprise-class technologies and managed in an enterprise-class manner by our ServerHeroes staff,” GSI chief technology officer and founder Robin Greenhagen said in a statement. “By utilizing the GSI Matrix, clients can achieve the cost efficiencies of traditional virtualization environments without having to sacrifice the safety, security and documentation surrounding their corporate data.”
The GSI Matrix platform also allows for rapid, secure, patched and pre-configured virtual machine template deployment. GSI has dozens of templates available for deployment in a matter of minutes and can build customized templates for future use.
GSI’s Matrix is available on a monthly contract basis, giving users daily snapshots for maximum recoverability, instant access to private network zones, firewall configuration changes and additional resources, as well as support from 24/7 ServerHeroes staff, who monitor site and server health, and help with backup services, database management, application configuration support and a full range of IT compliance and security services. Matrix is also backed by a green computing platform, which uses 50 percent less power and cooling than traditional servers.
GSI is the latest company to roll out a cloud computing offering targeted at enterprises. Earlier this week, cloud storage solution developer ParaScale (www.parascale.com) unveiled a software-only solution that can be applied to any standard Linux platform, enabling hundreds of servers to be clustered together to act as a file repository with massive capacity and parallel throughput, essentially giving enterprises the ability to create private clouds that adhere to corporate requirements.
