An image from the Sedo factsheet, illustrating the breakdown of its partner network level features and pricing
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain marketplace operator Sedo issued notice this week that it has published a factsheet clarifying the features, reach and pricing of its channels – an effort to address confusion and questions emerging from customers in light of the increasing complexity of the company’s SedoMLS Promotion Network and the addition of new functions to the company’s Domain Marketplace.
Sedo provides users with a means of selling their domain properties, and others with a means of acquiring domains – a service that it makes available in part through hosting providers. The Sedo marketplace now encapsulates three tiers of distribution: the Sedo website, the basic-level partner network and the premium level network, each representing an increasing reach of distribution.
“We know that our customers want us to help them sell as many domains as possible, at the best prices they can get,” said Sedo president Ulrich Essmann, quoted in the announcement. “This is why we are constantly working to improve Sedo’s marketplace, and to provide the best tools to help domain sellers distribute their names to millions of potential buyers globally. We will continue investing in new features, adding partners to the SedoMLS network, and helping sellers reach the right end user at the right time.”
The fact sheet can be downloaded in PDF form from the Sedo website.
The sheet clarifies, for instance, that domains sold through the SedoMLS Promotion Network pay a 20 percent commission, versus the 15 percent charged at other Sedo venues, because of the fee paid out to the partners who bring to the network the kind of exposure to buyers that make sales more likely. That partner commission is included in the 20 percent.
A full list of Sedo promotion network partners is included in the SedoMLS section of the Sedo website.
