Griffin Internet Announces Four New Hires

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to deliver new and better products to reseller partners, Internet services provider Griffin Internet (www.griffin.com) has today announced four new significant new hires including new engineering division head Bob Lowndes, who has more than two decades of industry experience.

According to Griffin’s Wednesday announcement, Lowndes most recently worked for UK telco BT Global Services (globalservices.bt.com). Also, Affy Sagir, with ten years experience in operations, left UK telco Opal Telecom (www.opaltelecom.co.uk) to join Griffin as operations director.

Peter Young joined Griffin’s product development department as senior product manager, after more than a decade of experience at UK telcos Cable & Wireless (www.cw.com) and Thus (which was bought by C&W last year). Young and will be focusing on Griffin’s new portfolio of hosted managed services.

Leaving his post at broadband provider Plusnet (www.plus.net), Rich Smolenski is also joining Griffin’s product management team, where he will specialize on DSL products.

“We had a record year in 2008 and the business will continue to grow as we roll out new products and features throughout 2009,” Griffin managing director John Dawson said in a statement. “We need to recruit best-in-class individuals to support our partner base and ensure the continued expansion of our business IP network. Griffin is developing products and services for the channel that save their customers money and improve ARPU and margin. Now that MOPS2 is launched we can deliver these new products with the speed our Partners demand.”

Providing Internet services to UK business since 1994, Griffin’s recent hiring spurt coincides with its recent network expansion, which has helped it launch innovative, customer-focused products and services to the UK reseller community.

Griffin chief technology officer Adrian Sunderland said that Griffin’s continued growth, market position, channel dedication and technology investments have helped the company hire the best minds in their field. “Our objective is to help our partners prosper in a very challenging market by giving them tried and tested products that their customers cannot get elsewhere,” Sunderland said in a statement.
