According to a Wall Street and Technology report Wednesday, a little-known San Jose computer and storage server provider, Green Rack Systems, is hoping to lead the industry in adapting to full-scale IT rollouts that consume just a fraction of the resources previously required by designing, installing and maintaining green data centers with zero environmental impact.
Green Rack Systems’ new line of low-power data center equipment includes low-wattage multi-core CPUs from both Intel and AMD, low-voltage memory, low-power hard drives, and ultra-low consumption power supplies.
“Our goal is changing the way data centers are built and operated, finally creating a 100 percent green solution for our customers” Green Rack Systems technical director Mt. Gard said in a statement. “From converting an existing data center setup to building brand new all-green turnkey solutions, Green Rack is proud to combine traditional green technology, such as recycled steel and plastic, with our cutting-edge data center equipment, which includes low-power consuming processors and memory, ultra high-efficiency power supplies, and even colocation in a completely solar-powered data center.”
Green Rack Systems is an affiliate member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative (www.climatesaverscomputing.org), an organization committed to encouraging the purchase of energy-efficient PCs and servers, and to broadly deploying power management.
