Green House Data's wind-powered Cheyenne, Wyoming data center.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Green colocation and managed hosting provider Green House Data (www.greenhousedata.com) announced on Tuesday it has expanded its operations by opening a new office in downtown Denver, in an effort to meet the growing demand of Front Range businesses.
The company currently operates a 10,000-square-foot data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where it houses its colocation and managed hosting services.
Green House Data says that 100 percent of its power is produced by renewable wind energy backed up by the traditional power grid, operating at approximately 60 percent more efficiently than traditional colocation providers of similar size.
Along with its newly built office, Green House Data has also added Denver-based staff including CEO Shawn Mills, who is now working from the downtown Denver office.
Green House Data Center’s operation delivers the Front Range’s only colocation data center that offers a zero carbon footprint. The company says the facility is approximately “10 percent more cost-efficient” than other colocation providers.
The new office comes at an opportune time, as an increasing number of companies in the region are advancing their green initiatives and looking to find a more eco-friendly hosting and colocation environment, says Green House Data.
Additionally, Green House Data says there has been a recent surge in businesses with compliance requirements regarding the distance between an enterprise office location and its back-up data center.
Green House Data says its Cheyenne data center is within the “desired proximity while adhering to distance rules,” bypassing risks associated with a densely populated, highly vulnerable metro region, giving clients a safer facility in which to store sensitive data.
The company offers a detailed video tour of the facility on its website.
“A growing number of companies we talk with in Denver want more features, customer service and flexibility from their provider, all for less money,” says Mills, CEO of Green House Data. “Because of the energy efficiency of our green data center, our robust connectivity, and the cost savings that Cheyenne affords us as a smaller town, we can offer all the desired benefits with a lower price tag to Denver companies.”
Green Data Center is currently providing managed services for several Denver-area organizations, including online motion content provider Thought Equity Motion and online video advertising and distribution firm VideoBloom.
In March, the company announced it will provide energy efficient outsourced data center services to the National Outdoor Leadership School.
