(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Application deliver provider Zeus Technology (www.zeus.com) announced on Tuesday it has formed a strategic partnership with Go Grid (www.gogrid.com), the cloud computing division of ServePath Dedicated Hosting (www.servepath.com).
The announcement follows another recent partnership Zeus announced with a cloud computing service provider, when it signed a deal with Joyent in February to offer more a flexible and cost-effective cloud computing infrastructure to its customers.
The partnership lets GoGrid offer Zeus’ ZXTM Virtual Appliance software as an integral part of its on-demand service offering to its customers, who are deploying its web infrastructure within a cloud environment.
GoGrid’s customers can now purchase Zeus’ layer-7 load balancing and application acceleration solution on a pay-as-you-go licensing fee calculated on monthly usage.
As a result, customers will gain access to dedicated traffic management features that are not available from many hardware based competitors.
According to the press release, ZXTM VA can “handle massive volumes of web traffic and ensure consistent availability and uptime”.
The solution offers a range of features including bandwidth management, traffic shaping, traffic prioritization, content compression and service level monitoring, coupled with traffic routing language TrafficScriptT.
“As organizations review and upgrade their IT infrastructure and their business requirements change, we are seeing a shift to the Cloud,” says Travis Reed, general manager of Americas at Zeus Technology. “In doing so, customers are able to rapidly scale their IT infrastructure, also taking advantage of greater operational efficiency, better quality of service and commercial flexibility. The combination of the great cloud computing infrastructure provided by GoGrid and the power of Zeus’ software solutions, enables existing and prospective GoGrid customers to have dedicated, enterprise-class traffic management solutions in GoGrid’s Cloud.”
The partnership will further expand on GoGrid cloud management capabilties, as Zeus’ ZXTM VA software will let customers further manage and control scalable web applications with traffic management features not available in the standard GoGrid out-of-the-box solution.
Earlier this year, Zeus launched a new ZXTM Development License and a ZXTM Plugin for the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment, making it easier for developers to develop, deploy, and debug Java applications on the Zeus platform.
