April 27, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy (godaddy.com) announced on Tuesday that according to current statistics provided by domain industry analysis firm Name Intelligence (nameintelligence.com), it had become the largest ICANN-accredited domain registrar in the world, surpassing Network Solutions (networksolutions.com).

According to Name Intelligence, Go Daddy's status as the world's largest registrar is based on the total number of domains under its management and applies to the .com, .net, .org, .biz and .us domain extensions. No other registrar other than Network Solutions has ever held the top position, says Jay Westerdal, CEO of Name Intelligence.

"From 2002 - 2004, GoDaddy.com led the domain name industry in terms of net growth and new domain names registered," says Bob Parsons, president and founder of Go Daddy. "Now that we are number one in terms of domain names under management, we are truly the world's number one registrar in every category. We achieved this position through hard work, perseverance and without acquiring any other registrars."
