October 23, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Discount Web host and registrar Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) reports its Hosting Connection service averages more than 1,000 daily Web application installations including ones for photo albums, blogs and content management platforms such as Joomla and Drupal.

“What would you rather do?” Go Daddy asked in its Thursday announcement. “Figure out how to install your favorite Web application on your hosting account or have it automatically installed with a single click?”

According to Go Daddy, since its launch in August, Hosting Connection has let customers install a large catalog of popular open-source applications without leaving the Hosting Connection control panel without requiring users create a database or set specific permissions. Go Daddy also recently added Elgg, which allows users to create sophisticated social networks.

Hosting Connection is offered at no extra cost to Go Daddy shared hosting clients, making it a particularly attractive value-added service for small and medium-sized business clients that have little IT experience because it takes the hassle out of an otherwise free application.

Go Daddy also offers sells premium applications including Wise-FTP, SQLYog and Community Server for automatic install for a fee.
