June 28, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy (godaddy.com) announced on Wednesday that it has recently been experiencing enormous growth in its Web hosting services.
A new survey by Web analytics firm Netcraft (netcraft.com) shows that this is a recent trend in the industry with domain registrars and search portals making large gains in Web hosting, while hosting specialists fall behind. Netcraft has also recognized Go Daddy as the top domain registrar turned to for Web hosting with most of the growth appearing in its shared hosting services, says Go Daddy.
“This month’s data yields some of the strongest evidence yet of the power shift in Web hosting,” says Rich Miller of Netcraft. “Go Daddy continues to amass huge numbers of users on its hosting platforms. This trend, along with the growth of social networks and image and video hosting services, is prompting deals in the hosting industry, as providers seek the scale and breadth of services to compete.”
Last week, Go Daddy introduced mobile device-enabled participation in its domain name aftermarket service, The Domain Name Aftermarket, enabling users to bid on and buy on domain names through cell phone and other mobile devices.
