Go Daddy Launches SmartSpace

October 14, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Giving regular people more reason to create a website, economy Web host and domain registrar Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) has launched “SmartSpace,” a new service that quickly converts an empty domain into a sophisticated website with Web 2.0 features including blogs, photo streams and news feeds.

According to Go Daddy’s announcement Monday, SmartSpace automatically enables users to create an interactive website with a blog, email address, podcast, photo gallery, video showcase and chat room capabilities without having to do any coding. Because these features are often attractive to people who have little or no technical know-how, this service provides users with a Web presence that can be customized to fit their own purposes.

“This is a game changer. It really levels the Internet for everyone,” says Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “SmartSpace technology binds onto the domain name itself, transforming something as simple as a name into one place where all your favorite elements can live online…Your family photos, your business blog, your resume, your kids’ video or your social pageĀ - it’s all there. SmartSpace is smart enough to be pretty much whatever you want it to be.”

Go Daddy has also prepared a video demonstration of its new service.

Starting at $4.24 per month on a three-year contract, this is the latest value-added service from the Scottsdale, Arizona-based company. Last week, it partnered with Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) to offer Hosted Exchange e-mail plans to small and medium-sized businesses registered with Go Daddy.
