(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar and web hosting provider Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) announced this week that its Indy 500 television spot which aired during this weekend’s ABC broadcast of the Indy 500 race is driving traffic to the website.
Sponsoring Indy 500 for the third year in a row, Go Daddy’s latest commercial helped bring traffic to the website, doubling last year’s campaign results.
The “Speeding” ad stars Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick, who placed third in Sunday’s race, ended with an invitation for users to visit the site to view the Internet-Only version of the commercial.
Web traffic increased 163 percent during today’s broadcast, as compared to last year’s, with another 570 percent increase in website visits after the race.
“First and foremost, congratulations to Danica on her historic performance,” says Go Daddy CEO and founder Bob Parsons. “She made us all proud today on and off the track. It was amazing to watch the response to our new commercial… visitors jumping online so quickly to see our Internet-Only version.”
Go Daddy says it surveyed people who watched the online commercial and discovered that 92 percent of both men and women thought the Internet-Only version of the commercial was “hilarious, funny, clever.”
The favorable results follows the success of February’s Super Bowl 2009 commercial, which also featured Patrick.
The commercial drew 10 percent more new customers than the previous year, while two out of three women and seven out of ten men said they “loved” the ad.
