May 14, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy (godaddy.com) announced on Monday it has experienced record growth rates, registering a total of one million domain names in April alone.
The unprecedented growth signifies an increase in individuals establishing and enhancing a Web presence to communicate, document and do business. The company says it registers, renews or transfers a domain name every 1.3 seconds nearly five times faster than the registration rate recorded just five years ago.
Netcraft reports more than 12.8 million Web sites have been added to the Internet in the last five months alone, which is a vast increase compared to the 7.5 million Web sites added during the same time last year.
“I’ve heard people say all the good dot-com names are taken thats just not the case,” says Bob Parsons, Go Daddy CEO and founder. “The Web is just getting going. Weve only scratched the surface.”
The company recently announced it signed a deal to be the presenting sponsor for this month’s Indianapolis 500 racing broadcast.
