Go Daddy Donates $50k to Local YMCA

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Phoenix, Arizona’s Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA approached Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) chief executive officer and founder Bob Parsons for a $1,000 charitable donation and was surprised to receive $50,000.

According to Go Daddy’s Monday announcement, its business success in 2009 alone has resulted in the hiring of 345 in total so far (more than 100 in the first two months alone), and helped raise money for local charities.

“Go Daddy is absolutely committed to making a difference in the community,” Parsons said in a statement. “For instance, The Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA asked us to donate some money to help underprivileged Valley children. Once we learned what they could do if they only had enough money, we wrote an even bigger check right there on the spot. I like that Go Daddy can do things like that.”

Go Daddy’s participation in charitable endeavors so far has put the company on track to break its record of $1.7 million in donations set last year. GoDaddy.com has been supporting local charity HomeBase Youth Services for the past six years and was Presenting Sponsor of its annual “Doorway of Hope” Dinner in February. Then in April, Go Daddy was also the title sponsor of the “Chrysalis Honors…the Family” event and “The Wish Ball,” which benefited the Arizona Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Later this summer, Go Daddy will be the title sponsor of the 11th Annual Arizona Humane Society Pet Telethon.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International Desert Southwest chapter executive director and CEO Becky Jackson said the organization is pleased that this fall will mark Go Daddy’s third year as title sponsor for the JDRF’s “Walk for the Cure.” “Each of the last two years, we’ve had more than 25,000 participants and raised more than $2 million with Go Daddy’s help,” Jackson said. “Last year alone, CEO Bob Parsons and Go Daddy donated $138,000 and had more than 750 walkers in the event.”
