Go Daddy Changes Marketplace Billing

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Having opened its debut online retail portal earlier this year, web host and domain registrar GoDaddy.com (www.godaddy.com) has introduced a new, simple pricing structure for its virtual mall, giving vendors access to the service for an affordable lifetime membership and a flat fee commission on sales.

According to the company’s Thursday announcement, the Go Daddy Marketplace’s (shops.godaddy.com) new pricing structure means vendors need not calculate different revenue formulas, deal with shifting fees or renew membership dues that rise from year to year.

Offering products from hemp-based toiletries to vintage books, a wide range of vendors have used Go Daddy’s millions of online visitors worldwide sell their merchandise. Go Daddy Marketplace lets vendors showcase their products without requiring a storefront of their own. As well, Go Daddy customers who are already using Quick Shopping Cart can quickly import products directly to the marketplace with Go Daddy’s import wizard.

Go Daddy chief executive officer and founder Bob Parsons said the new marketplace follows Go Daddy’s core principles of offering products that are wanted and needed, and making them easy to use and affordable.

“Listen, you shouldn’t need to be an accountant to sell something online,” Parsons said in a statement. “The pricing structure we have put in place for Go Daddy Marketplace is simple, it’s affordable and it gives you access to millions of Go Daddy customers.”

While most sole proprietor web sites see hundreds or even thousands of customers who come to see their products, Go Daddy hopes to leverage its more than 6.5 million customers and millions of online visitors to drive traffic to its clients’ customer bases.

Last week, Go Daddy added yet another feature to its product portfolio. The company rolled out a customer relationship management application, letting business owners keep track of customer information to build better relationships and personalize contact with them. While many other companies offer CRM software, Go Daddy’s has the added bonus of being integrated with Go Daddy Marketplace.
