September 24, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — SSL Certificate security provider GlobalSign (globalsign.com) has been awarded the newly devised WebTrust accreditation for Extended Validation along with its Seal of Assurance for Certification Authorities for the seventh consecutive year.
According to a Wednesday announcement by London-based GlobalSign, auditors Ernst & Young (ey.com) awarded the company with the two accreditations, adding to GlobalSign’s legacy as having one of the longest WebTrust compliancy records in the industry and its reputation for keeping up with security standards.
“It shows our customers the dedication GlobalSign has to delivering trustworthy Digital Certificates through our proven PKI solutions, all governed by our stringent best practices and data protection policies,” GlobalSign managing director Paul Tourret said in a statement.
Established by the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants, the WebTrust seal is an industry yardstick for the practices of Certification Authorities issuing publicly trusted Digital Certificates.
Extended Validation SSL Certificates were introduced by the AICPA in 2006. To re-assure the end-user of authenticity, EV SSL turns the browser address bar green in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera browsers and shows the standard SSL “padlock.”
