Global Crossing Adds Fiber to Phoenix NAP Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Phoenix NAP (www.phoenixnap.com) announced on Tuesday that network carrier Global Crossing (www.globalcrossing.com) has completed a fiber build into the Phoenix NAP facility.

Global Crossing’s presence in the NAP will allow tenants of the new data center to access Global Crossing’s IP-based network to support their IP and data networking needs.

The carrier’s services are delivered over its worldwide subsea and terrestrial systems at nearly 100 percent uptime to meet the capacity demands of data intensive businesses.

“As a network access point it is important for us to offer high-quality connectivity solutions while simultaneously recognizing the differing requirements of clients,” says Ian McClarty, president of Phoenix NAP. “The Global Crossing network is designed to meet the most demanding of needs, and we are very excited to have them in our data center.”

As a new point of presence on the Global Crossing network, Phoenix NAP will give carrier and enterprise customers access to Global Crossing’s services.

At this location, Global Crossing can use its Tier 1 IP backbone and access the Internet, as well as its fully converged MPLS/VPN network and WAN Transport solutions.

Phoenix NAP clients can select which network carrier they would like to have supply their connectivity solution, as well as the option of working directly with a carrier, such as Global Crossing, or working with Phoenix NAP staff to procure service.

The data center operator has been steadily adding to its team of carriers since it opened its 160,000 square-foot data center last year. In November, the company signed deals with three carriers, Level 3, AboveNet and AGL Networks, to bring their networks into the facility’s meet me room.
