April 22, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Venaca, a media asset management company, will outsource its content delivery and management platform to Globix (globix.com), a provider of managed Internet applications and infrastructure services, the companies announced this week.

"Very few providers have the capability to handle broadcast quality media assets. Globix is already trusted by its customers to encode and distribute live content and we see this as a natural extension of the services we offer," says Ed Warner, general manager of Media Services at Globix. "Content providers still have massive archives of tape based assets in inventory that remain a hindrance to the implementation of new services and other efficient methods of content distribution. Our solution finally gives broadcasters a cost-efficient way to capitalize on the rising demand for advanced viewer services like Video Demand, and extend their ability to digitize and distribute content."

The solution combines Venaca's platform for managing and editing broadcast-quality video, audio, images and text with Globix's content delivery network, managed media services, and digital encoding capabilities. According to the companies, the key benefits include immediate access to archived and current content, increased distribution capabilities, use of on-demand services, advanced content search and management capabilities, decreased production roles and digital encoding of broadcast-quality material.
