July 26, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web server security solution developer Gilian Technologies (Gilian.com) announced on Friday that its Web site anti-defacement appliance won the “best of show” award at Networld+Interop Tokyo.
The G-Server, says Gilian, beat out five other finalists in the security category at the top networking interoperability and Internet event in Tokyo this month.
“Defacement from vandals or other trespassers is an ever-present threat to Web sites around the world,” says David Wellerstein, vice president of channel sales at Gilian. “The Best of Show award at N+I Tokyo validates the G-Server as an important solution in the Japanese market, the world’s second-largest market in overall IT spending. It underscores Gilian’s credibility, and we expect the award to help spur Gilian’s growth in the Asia-Pacific market.”
The G-Server appliance sits between a Web server and the Internet, and uses no IP address of its own, rendering it invisible to potential hackers, says Gilian, and immune to both random and specific attempts to compromise site security.
