Germany Technology Firm ThyssenKrupp Chooses eleven's Email Security Solutions

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — ThyssenKrupp (www.thyssenkrupp.com), a Germany-based integrated materials and technology group, has chosen email security provider eleven (www.eleven.de) to keep its email communications secure.

Using eleven’s eXpurgate managed services, ThyssenKrupp’s 84,500 mailboxes remain protected against spam and overloads. It makes sure that business-relevant emails can be sent at all times, and checks even outgoing email traffic for spam and malware. It also boasts a spam detection rate greater than 99 percent, and virtually eliminates false positives for business-relevant email.

“eXpurgate Managed Service from eleven is a highly professional email security solution that provides reliable protection for our entire email infrastructure,” eleven department head Peter Davids said in a statement. “The solution also makes us more cost-effective, because we no longer have to constantly expand our email infrastructure in order to be able to tackle the rising spam volume. With eXpurgate we can rest assured that we can communicate via email at all times.”

eXpurgate makes sure that business-related email communication remains functional even when the volume reaches extreme levels, for example during spam waves or denial-of-service attacks. By using its mail relay function, eleven also checks ThyssenKrupp’s outgoing email traffic to prevent corporate computers from being misused as spam distribution points. In addition, the TLS option selected by ThyssenKrupp provides email encryption capabilities for communicating with selected parties.

By outsourcing its email security to eleven’s experts, ThyssenKrupp protects its email infrastructure by fending off threats before they reach the corporate networks. For instance, the company mostly employs the reject mode, making it possible to keep out spam before the email is actually accepted. By blocking spam during the SMTP dialogue, elven stops the flood of spam to ThyssenKrupp, which on average accounts for more than 85 percent of all email traffic.

eleven, however, is planning on bringing its security solutions to even more businesses and individuals. Less than a month ago, eleven and open-source collaboration software provider Open-Xchange (www.open-xchange.com) agreed on a comprehensive technical co-operation to integrate eleven’s email security into all of Open-Xchange’s products. Open-Xchange Hosting Edition enables web hosting companies to provide an easy-to-use, feature-rich application delivered as Software as a Service, and when combined with eXpurgate, web hosts, ISPs and telecoms will be able to provide an email solution with powerful security that is scalable and easily integrated.
