(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Future Hosting (www.futurehosting.com) has deployed an internal private network between its five international data center facilities, in Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Washington, and London, giving customers unmetered data transfer between all Future Hosting servers and services in its five data centers.
According to the company’s Wednesday announcement, Future Hosting’s internal private network data transfer capability is especially attractive for hosting resellers, developers and those who wish to take advantage of Future Hosting’s geographically diverse infrastructure.
Alongside the network cards used for Internet connectivity, the internal network connects all Future Hosting’s servers through physically separate network cards, which are each assigned a a private IP address, allowing them to transfer data between locations in a secured environment not accessible to the open Internet, giving customers with multiple servers more security.
“Whether it’s synchronizing data between two failover hosting points, or managing a corporate IT infrastructure spread across two continents, our internal network is an attractive feature for our customers and it does not cost them a penny more to use,” Future Hosting chief operating officer Charles Kowalski said in a statement. “It also allows our customers to reach beyond the traditional limitations of a standalone Virtual Private Server and leverage our vast capacity for growth.”
Clients are not charged extra to use the private network and can request access from Future Hosting’s sales department.
Future Hosting’s internal private network is the company’s latest improvement to its hosting customer service offerings.
In July 2008, it enhanced its data backup service for virtual private servers and dedicated servers, reducing backup intervals from six hours to as short as two hours, helping reduce the impact of a disaster.
In October, Future Hosting partnered with web site monitoring firm Pingdom (www.pingdom.com) to offer proactive server monitoring for managed virtual private servers customers, providing basic server monitoring from Pingdom and are able to select more advanced monitoring packages from Pingdom at a reduced cost. A long-time supporter of proactive server monitoring solutions, Future Hosting is the developer of VPS automation tool Server Doctor that manages everything from VPS account provisioning to security scans.
