January 3, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to a test recently administered by the Transaction Performance
r
Council (TPC), Fujitsu and IBM have bested HP server performance.
r
r
By doubling the memory in its 32-processor p690 Regatta server from 256GB to
r
512GB, IBM increased its speed measurement from 403,000 to 428,000
r
transactions per minute. This is a multiple fraction faster than the
r
423,000 from HP’s 64-processor.
r
r
The TPC test measures the performance of a server handling simulated
r
database transactions such as inventory validation, orders placements and
r
payment recording. The benchmark allows corporate customers to evaluate
r
server performance.
