Freewebs Names First Marketing VP

June 21, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting tools provider Freewebs (freewebs.com) announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Robert Ewald as the company’s first vice president of marketing and operations, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Ewald’s role at Freewebs is to oversee marketing and retention efforts to speed the growth of the company’s subscriber base.

“Our goal is to make Web sites as ubiquitous as email addresses, and to provide our global community of users with a single ‘hub’ to host all of the various media – Web pages, photos, blogs, videos, music – that comprise a true Web presence,” says Ewald.

Previously, Ewald led a product and marketing team for Nextel Communications’ wireless data services portfolio and increased the revenue of the unit more than tenfold.
