Freewebs Launches Pagii in Beta

September 17, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting tools provider Freewebs (freewebs.com) announced on Monday it has launched a beta version of a social networking and Web publishing site, Pagii (pagii.com).

Previously offered as an invitation-only alpha version, Pagii combines some of the features of social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook with the innovative approach of Web and desktop publishing, says Freewebs. Pagii’s browser-based technology allows users to use the project flexibly, from anywhere, without having to download software.

Its visually-driven, click-and-drag functionality provides users with immediate access to design and graphic capabilities, enabling them to quickly insert, resize, move, rotate and animate images. Since it is designed in VML and SVG, rather than in Flash, there is no image degradation with Pagii, enabling users to create crisp and clear images.

“Users just don’t build Web pages with Pagii, they can collaborate to build whole new chapters of Web expression – a Pagii nation, if you will,” says Freewebs’ president Shervin Pishevar. “We truly believe Pagii will be to social networking and Web page creation what the iPhone is to cellphones. Pagii is a clear extension of Freewebs’ mission to empower ordinary people to do extraordinary things.”
