(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- In his rather brief presentation (just under 15 minutes), “Freedom of choice”, MESH (www.mesh.eu) sales director Holger Bellinghausen de Coster discussed the flexibility and security requirements of cloud services.
As a diamond sponsor of WorldHostingDays 2011, MESH is a cloud infrastructure enabler, says Bellinghausen.
After providing a short introduction about MESH and its products, Bellinghausen invited a representative from InfraQ, who discussed the company’s recent partnership with MESH.
First, he compareed the do it yourself approach versus partnering with a cloud provider, taking a look at key factors such as the current state of the company’s infrastructure, the importance of scalability, their connection to the outside world, availability and whether they are able to deliver 24-hour services.
If the company decides on going with a cloud provider, they will need to bring the enterprise to the hosted market.
Disadvantages of cloud services include bandwidth availability, not knowing where the data is going, and stability, he says.
