FPweb Now Safe Harbor Certified

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider Fpweb.net (www.fpweb.net) announced on Wednesday it has received the Safe Harbor certification for data protection.

In October, INetU Managed Hosting announced it is officially EU Safe Harbor Certified.

By gaining the certification, the company has proved that its hosted services meet the privacy protection standards set forth by the European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection.

As a result, all Fpweb.net customer data is pre-certified to move freely in and out of European Union countries, and customers can confidently conduct business dealings with EU countries without delay.

Though the United States and European Union have taken different approaches to privacy, they share the same end goals.

The US depends on a combination of legislation, regulation, and self-regulation, whereas the EU enacted requirements that formed government data protection agencies, registration of databases with those agencies, and in some cases, prior approval before initiating personal data processing.

“We do our best to remove any and all obstacles that might obstruct the business of our clients,” says Rob LaMear IV, Fpweb.net CEO. “This certification is just one more guarantee that our clients will experience a secure, seamless hosted solution.”

Fpweb.net provides managed hosting services, including shared, semi-dedicated and dedicated server environments. All hosted services are housed in SAS 70 Type II data centers with PCI, SOX and HIPPA compliance to “ensure the highest level of data security,” says the company.

Last week, Fpweb.net announced it is offering a high-powered web analytic tool, SmarterStats Enterprise Edition, for an extra $10 per month providing customers with in-depth website statistics.
