Forrester Names VeriSign MSS Leader

October 5, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Registry operator VeriSign (verisign.com) announced on Friday it has been named a Leader in Forrester Research’s first Wave research report for managed security services. In the Forrester Wave: Managed Security Services, Q4 2007 (October 2007), VeriSign also earned the top score for current strategy.

The report, which can be viewed here, cites VeriSign as “one of the Leaders in this first Forrester Wave on managed security services” and that its “current offering and visionary strategy place VeriSign in the Leader category, ahead of the competition.” The report continues by recognizing that the company has “strengths in many areas, including implementation, visibility, portal strategy and intelligence through the iDefense Security Intelligence offering.”

For its first assessment of the state of the MSS market, Forrester evaluated and compared the strengths and weaknesses of top MSS providers. Based on past research, user need assessments and provider and expert interviews, Forrester developed a complete set of 56 evaluation criteria grouped into three general categories: Current Offering, Strategy and Market Presence. After completing the market evaluation, VeriSign emerged with the highest score in the Strategy category and was named a Leader for the overall MSS market.

“As an essential component of our Layered Security Solution, VeriSign’s unique combination of Security Consulting, iDefense Security Intelligence and Managed Security Services provides a clear view of security threats and best practices for fast and effective remediation,” says Mike Denning, VP of enterprise security services at VeriSign. “We are proud that Forrester has named VeriSign as a Leader in the MSS market and that VeriSign earned the top score in current strategy.”

VeriSign announced last week it reached significant milestones and is on track to expand and diversify the capacity of its global Internet infrastructure by ten-fold by 2010.
