(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Virtualization and automation software provider Parallels (www.parallels.com) put cloud computing at the top of the agenda at its inaugural APAC Summit held in Singapore on September 25, 2009, which set the stage for Parallels’ annual event that will be held in February 2010, in Miami, Florida.
The APAC Summit featured presentations from sponsors such as Microsoft, VeriSign, Open-Xchange and Unison, as well as several networking events, including the Singapore Grand Prix, according to Parallels’ Friday announcement. More than half of attendees were executive managers (CEO, owner, COO or managing director), making the conference an excellent platform for industry leaders to share their vision and strategies on Software-as-a-Service and cloud-based models.
Parallels CEO Serguei Beloussov said Parallels has made significant investments in Asia such as the establishment of an APAC headquarters in Singapore. “With around 1000 customers and 200 strategic partners signed in the region, Parallels is a key strategic player in this space,” Beloussov said in a statement. “The APAC Summit showcased the potential revenue streams for cloud services providers in the region, and we are enthusiastically gearing-up for our annual Parallels Summit 2010 in Miami with the theme ‘Profiting from the Cloud,’ where we will unveil strategies to transform IT infrastructure into the cloud.”
Tier1 Research analyst Philbert Shih said the APAC region’s various emerging markets are poised to quickly fuel a very competitive hosting environment. “Hosting providers are looking for ways to drive efficiencies, virtualize infrastructure and create new products in an effort to maximize revenues,” Shih said in a statement. “Hosting enablement providers that provide technologies designed specifically to solve these kinds of problems will be the big winners in the region. Parallels recent Summit in Singapore showcased a lot of these capabilities, and we look forward to seeing even more innovative solutions at Parallels Summit in the new year.”
With the success of the APAC Summit, Parallels is gearing-up for the fifth annual users’ conference, the Parallels Summit 2010 (www.parallels.com/summit), which will be held February 22 to 24, 2010, at the Fontainebleau in Miami, Florida. Registration for the event is free for Parallels’ partners, customers, invited guests and other industry professionals, and provide a blueprint to help hosters, telcos, and VARs accelerate services, enable new business models and cut costs.
