FiberNet Reports Second Quarter Transport and Colo Gains

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Interconnection services provider FiberNet Telecom Group (www.ftgx.com) has reported its second quarter revenue has increased to $15.8 million, up 9.9 percent from the $14.4 million earned in Q2 2008, and up 1.3 percent from the $15.6 million made in the first quarter of 2009.

According to its earnings statement for the quarter that ended June 30, 2009, FiberNet continued to achieve consistent revenue growth in its core product offerings of transport and colocation services. It revenues from transport and colocation services grew by 10.4 percent over the second quarter of 2008.

“We are proud of our results for the second quarter of this year,” FiberNet president and chief executive officer Jon A. DeLuca said in a statement. “The business continues to perform well in a challenging economic environment.”

Transport services remained the most significant component of FiberNet’s revenues, accounting for 76.1 percent of total revenues generated in the second quarter of 2009. On-net transport revenues were 45.1 percent and off-net transport revenues were 31.0 percent of the total revenues.

Colocation revenues were the fastest growing area for FiberNet over the quarter. They represented 23.3 percent of total revenue generated over the quarter, increasing by 15.9 percent from the second quarter of 2008, and by 4.1 percent from the first quarter of 2009. Off-net transport revenues increased by 6.7 percent in Q2 2009 from the same period in 2008.
