FiberNet Reports 3.4% Q4 Revenue Increase

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data transport, managed IP/Ethernet and colocation services provider FiberNet Telecom Group’s (www.ftgx.com) fourth quarter revenues have increased to $15.4 million, up 13.6 percent from $13.6 million from the same period last year and up 3.4 percent from the $14.9 million reported in Q3 2008.

For the fourth quarter and fiscal year that ended December 31, 2008, according to the company’s Thursday announcement, FiberNet continued to achieve consistent revenue growth in its core product offerings of transport and colocation services. Revenues from transport and colocation services grew by 14.2 percent compared to Q4 2007.

Transport services remained the most significant component of FiberNet’s revenues, accounting for 77 percent of the company’s total revenues. Colocation services followed at 22.4 percent of total revenue generated, and were the fastest growing area, increasing 5.0 percent over the previous quarter

FiberNet’s also added four new customers in the quarter, bringing its customer count to 299 as of the end of December.

FiberNet was able to continue the company’s core strategy of interconnecting key carrier hotels across the country in the final quarter of 2008. In November, the company extended its network reach to Chicago and Miami, as part of the company’s four-part network expansion project that also includes increasing its network capacity in the New York metropolitian area market, deploying additional capacity in Los Angeles and extending its network to San Francisco.
