March 14, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to research and analysis firm Netcraft’s (netcraft.com) Web server survey, Fedora (fedora.redhat.com) is the fastest growing Linux distribution, growing significantly faster than its rivals in the last six months in both absolute and relative terms.
In the last six months, Fedora has grown 122 percent and runs on 223,261 more active sites. Gentoo was the second fastest growing at 45.1 percent, followed by Mandrake, Debian and Suse at 16.7, 14 and 11 percent respectively. Cobalt’s usage shrunk by 16.6 percent, while RedHat, the most popular Linux distribution in terms of total actives sites, lost 1.2 percent. In absolute terms, Debian was the second fastest growing Linux distribution.
