May 14, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — FatWire Software (fatwire.com) yesterday announced it had acquired divine?s (divine.com) content management business at a bankruptcy auction in Boston.

The acquisition will include divine?s Content Server (formerly OpenMarket) and Participant Server (formerly Eprise) products, and its stable of over 300 customers that includes BusinessWeek, JP Morgan and Ford.

“We’re delighted to combine the divine and FatWire teams to provide what we believe will be the most powerful solution for enterprise-level content management customers,” said Mark Fasciano, FatWire’s CEO. “We’re committed to providing our world-class support and service to divine’s Content Server and Participant Server clients.”

The company said that the newly acquired assets will complement and enhance FatWire?s J2EE content management software products. “divine’s content management business is highly complementary to FatWire’s J2EE dynamic content management product line, and the technologies are an excellent match,” noted Ari Kahn, FatWire’s chief technology officer.

Based in Lisle, Illinois, divine is an enterprise software solution provider. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February of this year and is in the process of restructuring its operations. In the last few years, it has been active in the acquisition market, purchasing Data Return, a Web hosting firm, in November 2001, and Northern Light, a prominent search engine, in January 2002.
