June 20, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Fast Search & Transfer (fastsearch.com) announced this week that it has acquired AltaVista’s (altavista.com) enterprise search business, including more than 200 customers, from Overture Services, Inc.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Riaz, FAST’s chief operating officer. “In addition to providing dedicated support and maintenance to the newly acquired customers, this acquisition gives AltaVista enterprise search customers and partners the opportunity to experience the power of FAST’s highly-scalable and flexible suite of enterprise search solutions.?
The company said it expects to migrate AltaVista?s customers to FAST Data Search, FAST?s suite of enterprise search and filter solutions. But it also stated that there were no plans to integrate the AltaVista enterprise search technology with FAST Data Search.
The AltaVista enterprise search business was part of the acquisition of AltaVista by Overture completed on April 28, 2003.
