December 5, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Mobile game and interactive application provider Exponentia (exponentia.com) announced on Tuesday that it had signed a multi-year rights deal with the National Hockey League (nhl.com) to provide live mobile interactivity for hockey fans across North America.
Exponentia’s mobile game PlayAction (playaction.tv) enables NHL fans to make live predictions anywhere via their mobile device. Players can challenge their friends, form their own leagues and win team jerseys and other prizes.
Fans play by text messaging their predictions from their phones. They can also receive trivia or multiple choice questions about game outcomes via text messaging throughout games. Live results and leader boards will be posted on the phone and online at the PlayAction Web site.
“The NHL is a premiere league and we are extraordinarily proud to be announcing this partnership,” says Andrew Gregory, managing partner of Exponentia. “No matter what team they support NHL fans have two things in common, a passion for the sport and a cell-phone in their pocket.”
