Exanet Appoints Two New Execs

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Network-attached storage service provider Exanet (www.exanet.com) has named NetApp (www.netapp.com) veteran Mark Weiner president and chief executive officer, using his 15 years of experience in storage field to head the clustered NAS leading organization.

Assuming several technical, sales and management roles, and executive positions at NetApp, Weiner helped the company grow from a private company with less than $10 million in sales to a $3 billion publicly traded storage powerhouse. Following his work at NetApp, Weiner was executive chairman at StoreAge Networking Technologies (www.storeage.com) where he successful oversaw its November 2006 acquisition by LSI Logic (www.lsi.com). Weiner has been serving as an executive at Exanet since March 2007.

“Mark’s work with Exanet over the past 18 months has helped us refocus and establish a unique business model in our field that we feel will be disruptive to the storage industry,” Exanet Founder and Chairman Giora Yaron said in a statement. “There’s a lot of excitement around it and today’s announcement reinforces and validates this approach.”

Exanet has also newly hired Bert van der Zande, who will join the company as senior vice president of global sales. Also a veteran of NetApp, Van der Zande having worked there for more than eight years, where he was one of its most successful sales directors, constantly outpacing the growth of the company in the areas under his leadership.
