(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — On-demand email marketing software and one-to-one marketing solutions provider ExactTarget (www.exacttarget.com) has developed and deployed a DotNetNuke-based client-only social networking site, 3sixty, named for the role the site plays in connecting e-marketers to one another and to ExactTarget.
According to its Wednesday announcement, 3sixty provides a secure forum for customers to discuss one-to-one marketing, attend nearly 100 interactive on-demand video tutorials, request technical support and recommend and vote on product enhancement ideas.
To provide reliability, security, and flexibility, ExactTarget chose open-source content management system DotNetNuke, the most widely used framework for building websites and applications on Microsoft .NET. ExactTarget set an aggressive three-month deadline for deploying 3sixty, using DotNetNuke, resulting in a seamless execution that has attracted more than 13,000 active users, whose feedback has spurred nearly 100 product improvements.
“ExactTarget leveraged DotNetNuke to create an exclusive online social networking community where our customers can collaborate, learn and explore new product enhancements and one-to-one marketing ideas,” ExactTarget principal engineer Micah Squires said in a statement. “Other web content management packages we evaluated would have handcuffed our developers and limited the ability to flexibly customize the 3sixty website for our specific needs. The DotNetNuke application enables us to blend code with the existing web framework to create the custom solution we required.”
DotNetNuke president and chief executive officer Navin Nagiah said he is excited that ExactTarget chose DotNetNuke to create its online ecosystem, 3sixty. In addition to a top-rate product and best-in-class support, the DotNetNuke Professional Edition offers stability, security and speed of deployment to companies using the Microsoft .NET stack,” Nagiah said in a statement. “ExactTarget is a model example of how companies can improve their businesses by using DotNetNuke to deliver dynamic, interactive web experiences to their customers.”
