(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Dutch data center operator EvoSwitch (www.evoswitch.com) announced on Thursday it has signed a partnership agreement with AMS-IX (www.ams-ix.net) in Amsterdam, offering EvoSwitch’s customers a direct connection to AMS-IX.
The EvoSwitch data center will be AMS-IX’s 15th partner organization.
AMS-IX facilitates the exchange of Internet traffic, offering peering services to telecom carriers, e-businesses, web hosts, Internet professionals, banks, insurance companies, and other parties that handle a lot of Internet traffic.
The Internet exchange provider expects that hosting focused parties who require a lot of data center space will especially benefit from this partnership with EvoSwitch.
AMS-IX says it has high standards in place for partners that want to sell connections with the Internet junction, including compliance with specifications by the Uptime Institute and the Telecoms Industry Association.
Though it does not install equipment at EvoSwitch, AMS-IX says it must comply with the majority of these conditions.
Since EvoSwitch is a Tier3+ data center, AMS-IX says it more than approves of the data center.
“AMS-IX is important to us and our customers,” says Eric Boonstra, the commercial director at EvoSwitch. “It is the biggest Internet junction in Europe and encourages many customers to opt for EvoSwitch, not least because EvoSwitch is close to AMS-IX and has a large floor surface available for colocation purposes. Our partnership with AMS-IX allows us to provide our customers with peering options quickly and efficiently.”
