By theWHIR.com , April 19, 2004

April 19, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Dedicated hosting provider EV1Servers (ev1servers.net) launched Plesk 6.5 (sw-soft.com/plesk) for Windows on its dedicated servers, the company announced on Monday, expanding its relationship with hosting automation software developer SWsoft (sw-soft.com).

"Plesk has been the control panel of choice among many of our Linux server customers since 2001," says Robert Marsh, CEO of EV1Servers. "We're pleased to offer the same level of security, reliability and scalability to Windows users through Plesk for Windows. We're also excited about introducing e-commerce, site building, database support and other advanced features through Plesk. These functionalities will enhance our customers' competitive advantage and help their businesses grow."

EV1Servers says it will offer all the new add-ons available with the latest Windows and Linux versions of Plesk, expanding the capabilities of Web hosting providers. The features include site building, content management and ecommerce tools, database, JSP and ColdFusion support, a multi-level trouble ticket system, multi-lingual interfaces, and SpamAssassin Anti-Spam software. Plesk 6.5 for Windows also offers .NET capability.

"Our growing partnership strengthens both SWsoft's and EV1Servers' ability to service the Web hosting community," says Serguei Beloussov, CEO of SWsoft. "Plesk's industry leading features and EV1Servers' exceptional network speed and reliability represent a winning formula for Web hosting success."

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
