(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European Web hosting provider SuperNetwork (www.superhosting.cz) announced on Wednesday it plans to launch in the coming weeks the public start of its new cloud server provider, Cloudee.eu (www.clouee.eu).
The European cloud service is currently being offered in Beta phase where the company is inviting the first 100 customers to use the full cloud platform for Linux and Windows servers for free.
Like other cloud solutions, Cloudee.eu operates under a pay for what you use model.
The solution allows users to modify their server computer power without rebooting, and establish a straightforward new server in “just a couple minutes”.
According to the press release, Cloudee.eu supports Linux and Windows servers, and hopes to draw “clients from Western, Central and Eastern Europe.”
The emergence of Cloudee.eu signals a slow but growing trend of new cloud platforms launching in Europe.
The European market has generally shown slower adoption rates for the cloud. The past couple of years have seen US companies like Amazon and Rackspace expanding their cloud services into Europe, as well as European companies like ElasticHosts, Flexiant, and GreenQloud launching new cloud services.
This can be attributed to the fact that there are more barriers of entry for European cloud firms than in the US, including latency issues to host cloud solutions in local data centers, as well as different compliance laws surrounding the migration of information into a private cloud.
Founded in 2004, SuperNetwork operates under the hosting brand SuperHosting.cz and Prague-based data center DataCamp.sk.
The company manages the operation and administration of more than 2,600 physical servers out of its data center, which has a capacity of 5,000 servers.
SuperNetwork is a member of RIPE NCC and operates its own autonomous system AS39392 with data traffic exceeding 65 Gbps across Europe.
