The new European Data Center Association will launch at the upcoming Data Centers Europe 2012 conference in Nice, France because of its regional audience and its reputation as the leading conference for content relating to the data center industry.

According to its website, EUDCA is an “association that represents the data center industry at a European, national and regional level and represents all aspects of the industry from data center operators, to suppliers, manufacturers and data center users.”

Though widely considered to lag behind the North American market, Europe’s hosting and data center market is slowly gaining momentum and this growth certainly warrants an organization of this kind to promote data center services to hosting companies and other IT providers.

In its “Regional Differences in the Move Toward the Cloud, 2012?” report, Gartner found that the data center outsourcing market in Europe was $38 billion in 2011, while web hosting and colocation were $8.6 billion and public cloud services adoption 22.9 percent.

The European Data Center Association will exhibit at the event, held May 23 and 24, where it will welcome new members. The organization currently has more than 70 member companies from 17 countries, including data center operators like TelecityGroup, EBRC, Colt, DCO, Lamda Hellix and Interxion, major industry suppliers like Schneider Electric, Jerlaure, Stratégies and Siemens, industry consultantslike Arup and Migration Solutions, and law firm Bird & Bird.

“More than 50 companies and individuals have already signed up as members of the EUDCA with more joining every day as the association gains traction,” said Alex Rabbetts, board member of the Association. “The EUDCA is now recognized as the voice at a European level that the industry needs.”

EUDCA will have an exhibit at DataCenters 2012 event which the organization will use to meet its members, and welcome new members to join the association.

The event will also feature a presentation from the chairman of the association, Bernard Lecanu, who will discuss the reasons that the Association was formed and its roadmap for the forthcoming year. The event will also host the annual ECOC Awards by the European Commission.

Sponsors of the event include Schneider Electric, Hewlett Packard, Infinity SDC, Anixter, Emerson Network Power, Fujitsu, Migration Solutions, TelecityGroup, Volta, Telehouse, CommScope, e-Shelter GmbH, Interxion, Hitachi, Caterpillar, Joyent, Siemens and Scottish Development International and is supported by Microsoft, The Green Grid, eco, Data Center Pulse and the European Data Centre Association.

The event includes an industry exhibition, with an expert speaker academy, and will be attended by delegates from more than 33 countries.
