(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Fiber-optic network infrastructure provider euNetworks Group (www.eunetworks.com) announced on Monday that it has added Zurich to its dedicated finance network with a new low latency route. With this connection, Equinix’s 30,000-square-foot ZH4 International Business Exchange data center will have direct access to SIX Swiss Exchange from London and Equinix’s Frankfurt data center.

Last week Hurricane Electric established a PoP at the Equinix Paris Exchange.

According to the press release, the route provides a one way latency of 6.83 milliseconds to SIX Swiss Exchange from London, and from the Frankfurt facility with one way latency of 2.74 milliseconds.

“By adding this new low latency route to the range of networks available in our IBXs, euNetworks continues to demonstrate a clear understanding of the networking needs of the financial services community,” Marco Dottarelli, managing director of Equinix Switzerland said in a statement.

“Zurich is one of the most competitive financial centres in the world, and Equinix’s ZH4 IBX data centre offers customers a highly reliable, secure and network-neutral location from which to drive their trading operations in a growing market,” Dottarelli added. “The euNetworks solution delivers additional choice and quality of service to our customers and will help attract even more participants to the growing trading community in our ZH4 facility.”

euNetworks launched its ultra low latency route from London to Frankfurt in September, and in December 2010, euNetworks added a route from London to Stockholm as part of its network development.

“Following the investment in our dedicated finance network in 2010, we continue to invest where our clients need connectivity,” Brady Rafuse, chief executive officer at euNetworks said in a statement. “We are delighted to be delivering low latency connectivity into Equinix’s facility and importantly, offering our service from all major MTFs across Europe. Our commitment to network performance in the European market remains at the forefront of our network development programme and we have a number of further route optimisations and metro developments underway to continue to strengthen our market differentiation and service to our clients.”
