Etelos Launches OpenDev Public Beta
November 14, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Open source SaaS business solution provider Etelos (etelos.com) announced on Monday it has released a public beta of its Etelos OpenDev development platform.
Etelos says OpenDev brings together the strengths of common development tools such as Visual Studio, TextMate and Eclipse with the flexibility and functionality of the Etelos Application Server, which means more people can have access to and facilitate development of Etelos’ open source, on-demand Web-based Applications.
With OpenDev, developers can take advantage of Etelos’ file structure called .espx files, which enables developers to use multiple programming and markup languages in one development form. The company says on one page, a developer can use .Net, PHP, JAVA or EASE, Etelos’ own English Application Scripting Engine. Etelos says it is also striving to simplify the adoption of Web 2.0 applications.
“OpenDev simplifies code collaboration and improves a developer’s day-to-day performance. Developers want to focus on writing code, not how to push out the code,” says Ahmad Baitalmal, CTO of Etelos.
