August 18, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Esat BT (esatbt.com) announced last week that Labyrinth, its Web solutions division, has been selected by Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs to design, build and manage Ireland?s EU Presidency Web site.
Under the terms of the agreement, Labyrinth will oversee the entire project, from designing and building the Web site to management of the hosting, translation and Web streaming components. According to the company, Labyrinth was chosen over a competitive field that included 28 other companies.
“It’s a great endorsement of our capability to have been selected to design, build and project-manage this mission-critical Web site,” said Bill Murphy, CEO at Esat BT. “With as many as 15 million visits expected during the Presidency, this will be one of the busiest Irish Web sites ever.”
The Web site will feature an estimated 20,00 pages of content.
“Our main vehicle for communication during the EU Presidency will be our Web site – we estimate an average of 20,000 unique visits per day and 40,000 at peak times,” said Joe Nugent, head of ICT, Department of Foreign Affairs. “Hence, it was essential that we partnered with a company that could deliver a high quality product, on time and on budget. From that perspective, Labyrinth was the clear winner.”
